The story behind Powerhouse Dance is really a story about a little girl and a dream. It all began when Kourtney Kalahar put on her first tutu at age 2. From that moment on she fell in love with dance and her journey began.
Fast forward 23 years, and thousands of steps, jumps, and turns later and Powerhouse Dance was born in 2015.
Powerhouse is not your average dance studio. Their focus is providing an environment of discipline, strength, determination, and passion to young people through dance; helping them not only to become premier dancers, but to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally. Powerhouse believes that dedication and discipline in a healthy, positive, and loving environment motivates students to realize their potential as dancers and individuals.
"Kourtney has brought the love of dance back to my daughter Reagan," said Jennifer Mayforth of Bradenton. "Reagan has grown so much with Kourtney and her studio in her technique, ability, and confidence, as well as her performing and competing skills. Powerhouse is on the cutting edge with new classes to develop the dancer such as Ballet Progressions, Mandatory Yoga and Conditioning for flexibility and strength. I can not say enough about Kourtney, her Teachers and Powerhouse Studio."
Powerhouse offers ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and lyrical training based on high standards of classical and 21st century dance movement, flexibility, strength, and conditioning. Powerhouse combines both competitive dance, recreational dance as well as conditioning and training specific to an individual dancer’s needs.
In August, they will be moving into a new studio space on Honore Avenue that will take Powerhouse to the next level.
